Surprisingly enough, episode 2 of Brgy 143 is going to the right direction, I think. But I’m not here to just give good comments, I’m here to give my HONEST impression about the current episode. With that being let’s begin with some of the things I noticed early on.
CGI animation, it’s not bad and not good either. Just meh. The reason why I say this is because the CGI cars are too obvious. Yes, the scene with Bren on the motorcycle is cool and all but it just standout too much. And the reason it’s too obvious is because you can distinguish it easily which is CGI and hand-drawn. If you want CGI animation done right, watch some of ufotable’s anime series. You won’t even know it’s CGI.
Story phasing is, again, too fast to understand. The more I watch it, the more it’s more distinguishable that the story is Filipino-made. I already explained this part on my very first impression for episode 1 so I won’t dwell too much on this. The only thing that I like about this episode is the one when Vicky is talking to Didol and punched him in the face, the taxi driver saying “I know Tondo beri good! Let’s go” and when the 2 dudes almost kiss when the barangay captain said “kiss and make-up.”
All and all, they still need to fix the phasing of the story. If they can do that, this will be an enjoy to watch. Even if it has a lot of Filipino drama clichés on it.
